ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1856: 128.
TYPE LOCALITY: Rondani gave no type locality in his original description but presumably it is Italy because the work deals with Italian species .
TYPE MATERIAL: 3 ♀♀, 1 specimen, syntypes (sex not determinable, damaged) ( MZUF: Box 38): Siphunculina Rndn. / brevinervis Rnd. / 2058; 1 ♀, syntype (slightly moldy, missing left mid-leg) ( OUMNH Verrall-Collin Coll.: Box. 18): Type / Siphunculina brevinervis Rond. Ex. Coll. Big. / S. brevinervis Parma, Rond. / G. Siphunculina Rondani.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Siphunculina aenea ( Macquart, 1835) ( Nartshuk 1984b: 256) View in CoL .
REMARKS: Rondani’s (1856: 128) key for the genus Siphunculina Rondani, 1856 lists Siphunculina brevinervis as its type species, but he did not provide a detailed description, type locality, number or sex of the specimens. Five syntypes were found in this study.
