Psilopus guttipennis Rondani, 1848 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1848b: 87.
TYPE LOCALITY: “ Aus Südamerika ” [South America] ( Wiedemann 1830: 216) [locality for Psilopus stigma ( Fabricius, 1805) sensu Wiedemann (1830) ].
TYPE MATERIAL: not found, see Remarks.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Condylostylus stigma ( Fabricius, 1805) View in CoL ( Robinson 1970: 12, Yang et al. 2006: 411).
REMARKS: Rondani (1848b: 87) proposed Psilopus guttipennis for Psilopus stigma ( Fabricius, 1805) sensu Wiedemann (1830: 216) , which he considered a new species. Rondani referred to Wiedemann’s redescription of one male of Psilopus stigma so the type material of Psilopus guttipennis should be in Wiedemann’s collection. Wiedemann (1830: 217) stated that the single male of Psilopus stigma is preserved in the ZMUC but there is no specimen with this name in the list of Wiedemann material in this museum ( Natural History Museum of Denmark, 2020). No specimen labeled as Psilopus stigma is present in Wiedemann’s collection in the NHMW (P. Sehnal, pers. comm., April 2019).
