ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1875c: 445.
TYPE LOCALITY: “ Insula Bonae Fortunae (Borneo) , Provincia Sarawak [ Bona Fortuna Island , Sarawak Province, Borneo]” ( Rondani 1875c: 421) .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 specimen, holotype (sex not determinable, only right wing, right fore- and mid-legs present) ( MSNG): Sarawak / Typus / Psilopus villipes Rond. / Psilopus villipes n° 43.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Chrysosoma patellifer (Thomson, 1869) ( Dyte 1975: 220) View in CoL ; valid species, unplaced species of Dolichopodidae ( Yang et al. 2006: 526) View in CoL ; junior synonym of Chrysosoma patellifer (Thomson, 1869) View in CoL (D. Bickel, pers. comm., November 2019).
REMARKS: Rondani (1875c: 445) described Psilopus villipes without specifying the number, the sex or the length of the specimens, from material collected by G. Doria and O. Beccari. Guiglia (1957: 196) and Raineri & Rey (1996: 36) reported the holotype in the MSNG.
