Diopsidae View in CoL View at ENA
This family of acalyptrate flies contains nearly 200 predominantly Afrotropical and Oriental, rarely Holarctic, species and is unknown in South America and Australia ( Marshall 2012, Evenhuis & Pape 2020). Rondani (1873e, 1875c) described four Oriental and two Afrotropical nominal species. Three of these are currently considered as junior synonyms and three as valid ( Cogan & Shillito 1980, Steyskal 1977 c, Feijen 1998). Here, we designate a lectotype for Diopsis aethiopica Rondani, 1873 , Diopsis latimana Rondani, 1875 , Teleopsis breviscopium Rondani, 1875 , Teleopsis longiscopium Rondani, 1875 . The type material has been recovered for all nominal species and is distributed among the MSNG (six) and MZUF (five).
