Dolichopodidae View in CoL View at ENA
This worldwide family of Empidoidea contains almost 7,500 species ( Evenhuis & Pape 2020). Rondani (1843b, 1843d, 1848b, 1850 c, 1859a, 1873e, 1875c) described five Palaearctic, three Neotropical, one Afrotropical and one Oriental nominal species. Two of these are currently considered as valid, seven as junior synonyms, and one was not included in any recent catalog ( Robinson 1970, Dyte 1975, Dyte & Smith 1980, Negrobov 1991, Pesarini et al. 1995, Yang et al. 2006, D. Bickel, pers. comm., 2019). Rondani (1843d) proposed one new substitute name for species previously described and named by C.R.W. Wiedemann. Rondani did not cover this family in his Prodromus . In his paper on the Rondani types at MZUB, Morge (1959b) listed eight unpublished names (nomina nuda ) of Rondani. Except for three species that have presumably become lost, the type material has been recovered for all nominal species and is distributed among the MZUF (three), MSNG (two), MZUB (two), MRSN (one) and OUMNH (one).
