TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Insula Cypri [ Cyprus Island]”.

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, lectotype ( MZUF: Box 66): Lipoptena Nitz. / capreoli , in Grecia Ins . Cypri / Cipro / 3384 / lectotype Lipoptena capreoli Rndn., T. C. Maa , [19]62.

PARALECTOTYPE NOT EXAMINED: 1 ♀ ( MRSN: Box 1758): Lipoptena capreoli Cipro Rnd. / Cipro.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Lipoptena capreoli ( Soós & Hůrka 1986: 224) .

REMARKS: Rondani (1878a: 152) described Lipoptena capreoli from just the female sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens and not giving a range of lengths: “ Faem. … Mas ignotus … Coll. Pr. Bellardi [Female … Male unknown … Coll. Prof. Bellardi]”. Maa (1963: 23) designated a lectotype (♀) and, incorrectly because of its sex, a paralectotype (♂), and did not mention the MRSN female (this additional specimen is a paralectotype).
