Staeger sent both sexes to me from Denmark] ( Zetterstedt 1847: 2439) [localities for Helomyza affinis Meigen, 1830 sensu Zetterstedt (1847) ]; “ in collibus agri parmensis [Parmese hills ( Italy)]” ( Rondani 1866d: 39) [type locality for Helomyza agnata Rondani, 1866 ].

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Suillia affinis (Meigen, 1830) ( Gorodkov 1984b: 34) .

REMARKS: Rondani (1866d: 39) proposed Helomyza agnata for Helomyza affinis Meigen, 1830 sensu Zetterstedt (1847: 2439) , which he considered a new species. Rondani referred to Zetterstedt’s redescription of Helomyza affinis , which was based on an unspecified number of specimens, and to an unspecified number of males: “ marem tantum inveni [I found the male only]”. Therefore, the type material is in the collections of Zetterstedt (MZLU) and Rondani (MZUF). Rondani published the species first in a separate (1866d) and then in the journal version (1867b). Eight syntypes were found in this study.
