This family contains over 3,000 species ( Evenhuis & Pape 2020). Rondani (1875b) described 15 Palaearctic nominal species, six considered as valid, six as junior synonyms and three as nomina dubia ( Papp 1984b, Spencer & Martinez 1987, Canzoneri et al. 1995, Evenhuis & Pape 2020). In his paper on the Rondani types at MZUB, Morge (1959b) listed three names (nomina nuda ) that he attributed to Rondani. Kenneth A. Spencer examined the MZUF types without publishing any lectotype designation ( Spencer & Martinez 1987). Here, we designate a lectotype for Domomyza anthracipes Rondani, 1875 and Domomyza frontella Rondani, 1875 . Except for two syntypes in the MZLU and one in the MZUB, the type material for all nominal species is in the MZUF.
