Hylemyia arrogans Rondani, 1866 View in CoL

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1866a: 179 (key), 185 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in colle ditionis parmensis [ Parmese hill ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, holotype ( MZUF: Box 24): Hylemyia Rndn. / arrogans Rnd. , Parma / 1265.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Eustalomyia vittipes ( Zetterstedt, 1845) View in CoL ( Dely-Draskovits 1993: 55, Gorodkov et al. 1995: 7).

REMARKS: Rondani (1866a: 185) described Hylemyia arrogans from just the female sex, without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens: “ Semel foeminam legi [I collected the female once]”. In his redescription Rondani (1877c: 195) reported having collected a single female: “ unicam foeminam … inveni [I found a single female]”. Hennig (1967a: 107) reported having examined the MZUF type material. Rondani described this nominal species under the generic name “ Hylemyia ”, which is an “incorrect subsequent spelling of Hylemya Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 or subsequent usage of Hylemyia Macquart, 1835 ” ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 99).
