ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1871a: 327.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Apennino [ Apennines ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, holotype (missing left wing) ( MZUF: Box 23): Chorthophila [sic!] Mcq. / rimans Rnd. , Parma / 1210.

CURRENT STATUS: doubtful species of Pegomya Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 View in CoL ( Dely-Draskovits 1993: 90).

REMARKS: Rondani (1871a: 327) described Corthophila rimans from the female sex, “ Foeminam in Apennino legi [I collected the female in the Apennines]”, without specifying either the number of specimens or giving any measurement of length. Hennig (1974a: 683) considered the single MZUF female as the holotype. Rondani described this nominal species under the generic name “ Corthophila ”, which is an “incorrect subsequent spelling of Chortophila Macquart, 1835 ” ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 65).
