[= Apennines] / 1223 / ♂ / holotype ♂, Chorthophila [sic!] ignota Rond., 1866 , teste V. Michelsen, 1978 / Chorthophila ignota Rondani , spec. 2 = Anthomyia pluvialis L .

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Anthomyia pluvialis (Linnaeus, 1758) View in CoL ( Dely-Draskovits 1993: 22, Gorodkov et al. 1995: 5).

REMARKS: Rondani (1866a: 168) described Chorthophila ignota from just the male sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length: “ Marem tantum inveni [I found the male only]”. Two specimens in the MZUF, a female because of its sex, and a male that does not fit the original description are not included in the type series ( Hennig 1967c: 233, 1974b: 796, Michelsen 1980a: 285). Michelsen (1980a: 285) considered the MZUF male to fit Rondani’s description as the holotype. The locality “Alpi” on the holotype’s label was probably added later. Rondani described this nominal species under the generic name Chorthophila , which is an “unjustified emendation of Chortophila Macquart, 1835 ” ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 57).
