CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Pegomya ulmaria View in CoL ( Dely-Draskovits 1993: 87, Gorodkov et al. 1995: 8).

REMARKS: Rondani (1866a: 150) described both sexes of Anthomyia ulmaria from one male and an unspecified number of females: “ Marem obtinui ex larva in carie ulmi … Foeminam bis legi [I obtained the male from a larva in a rotted elm … I collected the female twice]”. Hennig (1973b: 661) reported a type specimen in the MZUF: “Typus von ulmaria im Museo zoologico La Specola, Florenz (coll. Rondani Nr. 1379)” but did not select a particular specimen from the type series to serve as the name-bearing type and therefore did not publish a lectotype designation (I.C.Z.N. 1999: Article 74.5). We found one male and two female syntypes in the MZUF and one female syntype in the OUMNH.
