Sephanilla sertulata Rondani, 1875 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1875a: 268.

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, lectotype (very dirty) ( MZUF: Box 34): Sephanilla Rnd. / sertulata Rnd. / 1804 / lectotype [not designated] Sephanilla sertulata Rondani , ♂, by W.N. Mathis, 1999; 2 ♀♀, paralectotypes (one missing right wing) ( MZUF: Box 34): Sephanilla Rnd. / sertulata Rnd. / 1804 / paralectotype [not designated] Sephanilla sertulata Rondani.
CURRENT STATUS: Papp (1984c) did not list it; junior synonym of Aulacigaster leucopeza (Meigen, 1830) ( Rung & Mathis 2011: 106) View in CoL .
REMARKS: Rondani (1875a: 268) described Sephanilla sertulata without specifying the number, the sex or the length of the specimens, but presumably from more than one specimen because he reported: “ non raro legitur [not rarely found]”. Rung & Mathis (2011) reported having studied the MZUF collection in 1999 and, although labeling specimens as such, did not publish a lectotype designation. We also found three syntypes in the MZUF. In order to promote nomenclatural stability, we give credit to W.N. Mathis and here designate as a lectotype for Sephanilla sertulata Rondani, 1875 the MZUF male labeled as such by him.
