Aulacigastridae View in CoL View at ENA
The taxonomy of this small family of acalyptrate flies is confusing: several of its genera have been moved to more than one other family, in particular to the closely related Periscelididae . The result is that the number of species belonging to Aulacigastridae is unclear: Pape et al. (2011) listed just 19 species, Rung & Mathis (2011) listed 55, Evenhuis & Pape (2020) listed 61. Rondani (1875a) described one Palaearctic species, considered as a junior synonym ( Rung & Mathis 2011), in his “ Stirps Loncheinae ”. The family Aulacigastridae was proposed by Duda (1924). Here, we designate a lectotype for Sephanilla sertulata Rondani, 1875 .
