ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1873f: 297.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Persia Sept. [northern Persia]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, holotype ( MSNG): Persia settent.e [northern Persia], 1862–63, Coll. G. Doria / Typus / Proctacanthus shah Rndn. , ♀ / Proctacanthus shah Rndn. 1873 , n. sp.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Satanas shah ( Lehr 1988: 320) View in CoL .

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: Rondani (1873f: 297) described Proctacanthus shah from just the female sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, from material collected by G. Doria . Guiglia (1957: 196) and Raineri & Rey (1996: 30) reported the holotype (♀) in the MSNG.
