ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1875c: 451.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Insula Bonae Fortunae (Borneo) , Provincia Sarawak [ Bona Fortuna Island , Sarawak Province, Borneo]” ( Rondani 1875c: 421) .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, holotype ( MSNG): Borneo, Sarawak, 1865/1866, Coll. Doria / Typus / minusculus Rond. / Asilus minusculus n° 55.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, unplaced to genus of Asilidae ( Oldroyd 1975: 138) View in CoL .

REMARKS: Rondani (1875c: 451) described Asilus minusculus from just the female sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, from material collected by G. Doria and O. Beccari. Guiglia (1957: 194) and Raineri & Rey (1996: 29) reported the holotype (♀) in the MSNG.
