This family of acalyptrate flies contains 122 predominantly Holarctic species ( Roháček 2009, Marshall 2012, Evenhuis & Pape 2020). Rondani (1875b) described one nominal species, considered as a junior synonym ( Andersson 1984, Canzoneri et al. 1995, Roháček 1999), in his “ Stirps Agromyzinae ”. The family Anthomyzidae was proposed by Czerny (1903).
