DISTRIBUTION — Papua New Guinea.

DIAGNOSIS — The new species M. villemantae n. sp. is very close to M. crassipes Szépligeti, 1900 , but differs from it by having the irregularly rugose temple, the largely sclerotized vein 2-SR of fore wing, the presence of deep sculptures on second to fourth tergites, (vs. temple smooth, 2-SR unsclerotized, second tergite deeply punctate, respectively for M. crassipes ). It differs from the two other new species of Mesocentrus described here by the size of the body, and the largely sclerotized vein 2-SR of fore wing. It differs from M. rutilus Papp, 2005 by the second tergite coarsely striate, the first tergite moderately broadening posteriorly and from the other species of this genus by its body bicolor.

DESCRIPTION (Holotype) — FEMALE: body length 4.2 mm, length of fore wing 3.2 mm. Head. Antennal segments 17, scapus 2.40x as long as broad, F1/F2 = 1.00; length of first and second flagellomeres 2.25x their width, penultimate flagellomere 3.20x its width; maxillary palp 1.50x height of head; ED/TD = 1.80; OOL:OD:POL = 5.00:2.00:2.00; occipital carina complete mid-dorsally; vertex irregularly rugose; frons rugose with numerous spaced setae; face straight in lateral view, WF/HF = 2.00; face with transverse parallel rugae laterally, rugulose medially; clypeus flat, rugous; gena largely irregularly rugose except close to eye; MS/BM = 1.75; malar sulcus strong and curved; face with fine long setae. Mesosoma. HMS/LMS = 0.77; propleuron largely granulate with some striae posteriorly; side of pronotum shiny, largely and strongly crenulate medially, longitudinally striate posteriorly; epicnemial area largely rugose, only half of mesopleuron smooth posteriorly; precoxal sulcus complete, large, strongly and largely ruguose; metapleuron rugose; mesoscutum setose with long fine setae; lobes of mesoscutum granulate; notauli strongly impressed, ending in a large mid-posterior area which is fully longitudinally rugose; scutellar sulcus 3.00x wider than long, with several strong longitudinal carinae; scutellum coarsely punctate, flat; propodeum fully rugose, mid-longitudinal carina only present as a short stub anteriorly. Legs. Fore tarsi shortened, fore femur ventrally flattened, 3.30x as long as large in lateral view; fore and mid coxae smooth; hind coxa longitudinally striate dorsally, finely punctate ventrally; length of femur, tibia and basitarsus of hind leg 4.30, 7.14 and 5.50x their width, respectively; length of hind tibial spurs 0.20 and 0.27x hind basitarsus; apex of hind tibia with a row of bristles. Wings. Fore wing: r:3-SR:SRl = 11.00:15.00:33.00; r and SR1 weakly curved, r weakly oblique; pterostigma large and rather triangular; 1-SR+M strongly bent medially; 1-SR+M:2SR+M:2-SR = 27.00:5.00:10.00; CU1b present as short stub; subdiscal cell open posteriorly. Hind wing: M+CU:1-M:1r-m = 2.50:2.00:1.00. Metasoma. LT1/ WT1 = 1.17; first and second tergite coarsely longitudinally strigose; laterope present and deep; third tergite largely covered by fine transverse striae, the anterior ones curved to the outer margin of tergite; fourth tergite finely transversely striate basally; the following tergites smooth; second suture deep; length of ovipositor sheath 0.18x fore wing, acute apically. Color. Bicolor black-rufous; palpus, sternites withish; frons laterally, vertex laterally, temple around the eyes, anterior part of median lobe of mesoscutum, lateral lobes of mesoscutum red-rufous; fore coxa light yellow; legs, fore femur and tibia largely brownish laterally and dorsally; other part of body dark brown; wing membrane weakly infuscate, subhyaline, pterostigma darkish.

VARIATIONS — The paratypes are similar in color, body length, and number of antennal segments.

DISTRIBUTION — Papua New Guinea.

DIAGNOSIS — This new species is close to M. crassipes Szépligeti 1900 , but differs from it by the scutellar sulcus ovoid with or four longitudinal carinae, the median to apical antennal segments broader than the basal ones, the fine curved outside sculptures on third tergite (vs. scutellar sulcus elongated with several longitudinal carinae, antennal segments evenly narrowing to the apex, fine transverse sculptures on third tergite, respectively for M. crassipes ). It differs from the two other new species of Mesocentrus described here by the size of the body, the vein 2-SR of fore wing largely desclerotized, the rather small second submarginal cell of fore wing, and the orientation of the sculpture on third tergite. It differs from M. rutilus Papp, 2005 by the second tergite coarsely striate, the first tergite moderately broadening posteriorly and from the other species of this genus by its body bicolor.

DESCRIPTION (Holotype) — FEMALE: body length 3.5 mm, length of fore wing 2.5 mm. Head. Antennal segments 18, scapus 1.60x as long as broad, F1/F2 = 1.20, length of first and second flagellomeres 2.40, 2.00x their width, respectively and penultimate flagellomere 1.70x its width; antennal segment 11 to 15 twice larger than segments 3 or 4; maxillary palp 0.80x height of head; ED/TD = 1.90; OOL:OD:POL = 4.00:2.10:2.50; vertex irregularly rugose; frons rugose, impressed behind antennal sockets; face straight in lateral view, WF/HF = 1.30; face finely striate transversely, and weakly rugulose medially; clypeus small, rugous; gena smooth and shining, finely densely punctate close to the ocipital carina; occipital carina complete mid-dorsally, close but not meeting hypostomal carina; MS/BM = 1.00; malar sulcus fine close to the eyes; face with fine long setae. Mesosoma. HMS/LMS = 0.91; propleuron largely smooth; side of pronotum shiny, largely and strongly crenulate medially; epicnemial area rugose, two-third of mesopleuron smooth posteriorly; precoxal sulcus complete, with the same width all its length, crenulate; metapleuron rugose; mesoscutum setose with long fine setae; lobes of mesoscutum granulate; notauli strongly impressed, ending in a mid-posterior area containing three longitudinal rugae; scutellar sulcus 2.50x wider than long, with three to four longitudinal carinae; scutellum finely and densely punctate anteriorly, smooth posteriorly, flat; propodeum irregularly rugose, mid-longitudinal carina only present as a short stub anteriorly. Fore wing: r:3-SR:SRl = 8.00:14.00:23.00; SR1 weakly curved, r oblique; pterostigma large and rather triangular; 1-SR+M weakly sinuous; 1-SR+M:2SR+M:2-SR = 21.00:6.00:5.00; 2-SR unsclerotized; CU1b absent; subdiscal cell open posteriorly. Bicolor black and rufous; palpus, coxa, fore and mid femora except a small patch ventrally, basal half of mid femur, sternites withish; tibia, tarsus yellowish; frons and vertex, temple around the eyes, lobes of mesoscutum, scutellum posteriorly red-rufous; fore coxa light yellow; apical half of hind femur, brown; median patch on fore femur, apical third of mid femur light brown; other part of body dark brown; wing membrane weakly infuscate, subhyaline, pterostigma darkish and shortly paler at base.

VARIATIONS — Paratypes are similar in color, but with sometimes the mesopleuron weakly reddish, scutellum darkish, and second tergite postero-laterally with faint rugae.
