DISTRIBUTION: E.C. Idaho, adjacent Montana and W. Wyoming; N. Utah ( U.S.A.).

COMMENT: Includes pygmaeus and confinus; see Thaeler, 1972, J. Mammal., 53:417-428, Murrelet, 1977, and J. Mammal., 58:49-51, who revised this species. Formerly included in talpoides by Hall and Kelson, 1959:441, but see Hall, 1981: 1179.
