Rondibilis similis Gahan, 1907

( Figures 1–18View FIGURES 1 – 18)

Rondibilis similis Gahan, 1907: 94  (type locality: “Engano Island”).

Type specimens examined. Lectotype: male ( Figs 1–5View FIGURES 1 – 18), Engano, Bua-Bua. V. VI., Modigliani 1891. Paralectotype: 1 female ( Figs 6–10View FIGURES 1 – 18), PARALECTOTYPE, Rondibilis similis Gahan, 1907  des. Gui-Qiang Huang & Francesco Vitali, 2015 (printed on a rectangular white label with black borders in black ink)/ Engano, Bua-Bua. V. Other specimens: 4 males ( Figs 11–16View FIGURES 1 – 18) and 1 female ( Figs 17 & 18View FIGURES 1 – 18) with same locality, date and collector as types.

Distribution. Indonesia (Enggano Island).

Remarks. There are seven specimens with same locality, date and collector, but only two of them have a label handwritten by Gahan ( Figs 5 & 10View FIGURES 1 – 18), while three specimens ( Figs 13–18View FIGURES 1 – 18) have a label with “ Rondibilis similis Gah. Breuning  dét.”. Gahan (1907) described specimens of both sexes, but only the ones having labels handwritten by Gahan should be considered as types. In all likelihood, Gahan did not observe the rest of specimens. According to the ICZN, Art. 74.7., we hereby designate the male specimen ( Figs 1–5View FIGURES 1 – 18) having the type label as lectotype and the female specimen ( Figs 6–10View FIGURES 1 – 18) as paralectotype. “Engano” was printed on all labels ( Figs 5, 10, 14, 16 & 18View FIGURES 1 – 18), so Gahan (1907) also used “Engano” in his paper. Actually, “Engano” was the Italian transliteration of Enggano ( Modigliani, 1894), which is an island and lies off to southwestern coast of Sumatra, Indonesia.
