Type material. Holotype: male (reared) with associated pupal exuviae, ARGENTINA, Río Negro Province, 20 km W of San Carlos de Bariloche city, Lake Tonċek (41°11’55’’S – 71°29’22’’W, 1754 m a.s.l.) 18.1.2002, leg. Diego Añón Suárez. Allotype: female (reared) with associated pupal exuviae, as holotype (both holotype and allotype deposited at the Museum of Natural Sciences, La Plata, Argentina). Paratypes 13 males 6 females topotypic, and 8 males Laguna Jujuy, 60 km SW of San Carlos de Bariloche city (41°11’19’’ S – 71°41’43’’ W, 1851 m a.s.l.) leg. Diego Añón Suárez (deposited at the Zoological Museum, Bergen, Norway; Zoologische Staatssammlung, München, Germany; U.S. National Museum of Natural History, Washington, D. C.; Entomological Collection, University of Minnesota, St. Paul, MN).

Etymology. The new species is named for the type locality.
