Etymology. I name this species fredericoi (noun in genitive case) after my beloved son Frederico Augusto Rodrigues Lencioni.

Male holotype. Head. In life eyes brown on upper half and greenish gray on inferior half; labium light yellow; anterior part of head entirely vivid yellow; an irregular area from medial ocellus back to postocular lobes black, occipital bar dark yellow connecting with pale postocular spots; a blue narrow line bordering compound eyes.

Thorax. Prothorax green postero-laterally, remainder dark brown to black with pale geminate spots on middle lobe lateral to midline. Pterothrorax: Mesepisternum with black middorsal stripe extending laterally across 0.40 of mesepisternum and interrupted by pale green mid-dorsal carina; mesepimeron, metepisternum, and metepimeron green. Black spots on mesopleural and metapleural fossae, and close to junction of mesopleural and metathoracic cross sutures. Venter of metathorax pale with dark markings as in Fig. 1c. Legs pale except for dark extensor surface of femora, base and distal tips of tarsi, pretarsi, and spurs black, supplementary tooth of pretarsal claw and pretarsal claw subequal ( Fig. 1d). Wings hyaline, pterostigma dark brown; 8 Px in Fw, 7 Px in Hw.

Abdomen. Dorsum of S1 with basal black spot; of S2–5 with a black mid-dorsal stripe beginning at proximal part and extending almost to distal end and terminating in an angulated expansion, S6 with a broad black mid-dorsal stripe, S7 with a black spot at first 1/6 and with a rectangular expansion at distal end, S8–10 dark brown to black. Sides of S1 blue, S2–7 dorso-laterally blue and ventrally pale each with a black apical annulus expanded basally at varying degrees ( Fig. 1a), S8–10 dark brown to black. Sternum of S1 pale, S3–7 pale with a very narrow black medial stripe, S8 dark brown with a bluish white round spot ( Fig. 6c). Cercus and genital ligula as described for genus.

Dimensions. Total length 30; abdomen length 24; Fw length 14.5; Hw length 14.

Female allotype. Head. Eyes as in male; labium dark blue; anteclypeus, anterior portion of post-clypeus and area from postfrons to base of lateral ocellus greenish-brown; an irregular area from medial ocellus back to postocular lobes black, remainder of head light blue.

Thorax. Prothorax green postero-laterally, remainder black. Pterothrorax: Mesepisternum brown with broad black mid-dorsal stripe; mesepimeron distally to second thoracic spiracle and metepisternum dark blue; metepimeron blue; mesinfraepisternum and mesepimeron proximal to second thoracic spiracle greenish. Legs and venter of metathorax as in male. Wings hyaline, pterostigma dark brown; 8 Px in Fw, 7 in Px in Hw.

Abdomen. Dorsum of S1 with a basal semicircular black spot, S2–7 with a black dorsal stripe beginning at proximal part and extending almost to distal end terminating in an angulated expansion, S8 with an hourglass shaped spot occupying 3/4 of length, S9 with a dorsal stripe interrupted medially. Sides of S1–7 as in male, S8–10 dark brown (almost black when alive). Sternum of S1 pale, S2–7 as in male, S8 white with a black medial stripe at the basal 1/2, valves of ovipositor bluish.

Dimensions. Total length 31; abdomen length 24.5; Fw length 16; Hw length 15.5.

Variation in Paratypes. Extension of the dark markings on epicranium in both sexes vary considerably ( Fig. 8 a-j). Males: total length 29–32; abdomen length 23–25; Fw length 14–15; Hw length 13.5–14.5; wings: 7-8 Px in Fw, 6-7 Px in Hw. Females: total length 30–31; abdomen length 24–24.5; Fw length 16–17; Hw length 15.5–16; wings: 8–9 Px in Fw, 7–9 in Px in Hw..

Biology. Males and females collected at border of a secondary forest from 20–30 m of Rio Paraíba do Sul , at sunny spots perched at a maximum height of 3m.
