STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on WAM material (WAM P.31213-042). DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. East Africa east to Marshall Islands and Samoa. Soft bottoms in sheltered bays and lagoon reefs, 1– 10 m. Marine.
Gorgasia maculata Böhlke & Randall, 1981 View in CoL —Whitespotted garden eel
STATUS AT MADANG. First record from Madang by Castle (1997: 13) and Castle & Randall (1999: 43). Specimens photographed at St. CTR 33. BPBM material.
DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Maldives east to Philippines and Solomon Islands. Found on sand bottoms, 15– 48 m. Marine.
Gorgasia preclara Klausewitz & Eibl-Eibesfeldt, 1959 —Splendid garden eel
STATUS AT MADANG. First record from Madang by Castle & Randall (1999: 46). BPBM material. DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Maldives east to Guam and Papua New Guinea, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to Queensland ( Australia). Found on sand bottoms, 18– 75 m. Marine.

STATUS AT MADANG. First record from Madang by Castle & Randall (1999: 20). AMS and WAM material.
DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. East Africa and Mascarenes east to Wake Atoll, Tonga, Samoa and Line Islands, north to Ryukyu and Ogasawara islands, south to northwestern Australia, Queensland ( Australia) and New Caledonia. Found on sand bottoms, 1– 45 m. Marine.
Heteroconger taylori Castle & Randall, 1995 View in CoL —Taylor's garden eel
STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on specimens photographed at St. CTR 24. DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Indonesia to Philippines and Papua View in CoL New Guinea. Found on sand bottoms, 5– 15 m. Marine.
