STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on WAM material (WAM P.30356-011). DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Central Indonesia east to Philippines and Solomon Islands, south to northern Australia. Secretive in crevices of coral reefs, 0– 10 m. Marine.

STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on WAM material (WAM P.30620-011). DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Cocos-Keeling and Christmas islands (Indian Ocean) east to Philippines and Solomon Islands. In caves and crevices of seaward reef slopes, 12– 60 m. Marine.

STATUS AT MADANG. Originally described from Madang by Lubbock (1980: 829, fig. 4). AMS, BMNH, BPBM and USNM material.
DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Northern Sulawesi ( Indonesia); Madang and Bougainville ( Papua New Guinea). Cryptic in crevices of coral reefs, 1– 10 m. Marine.
Pictichromis paccagnellae (Axelrod, 1973) —Royal dottyback
STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on specimens observed at St. PR 170; also photographed by A. Berberian and P. Laboute. CAS and WAM material (CAS 63654; WAM P.30356-001). DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Central Indonesia east to Solomon Islands, south to northwestern Australia. Found in coastal or seaward reefs, 5– 40 m. Marine.

STATUS AT MADANG. Originally described from Madang by Gill (2004: 76, figs. 29–30). AMS, USNM and WAM material.
DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Eastern Indonesia and Papua New Guinea to Solomon Islands. Cryptic in crevices of inshore reefs and near mangroves, 1– 8 m. Marine.

STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on AMS and CAS material (AMS I.17082-005; CAS 65785, 65788).
DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Indonesia east to Kiribati ( Gilbert Islands and Vanuatu, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to New Caledonia. Cryptic in crevices of reef flats and inshore reefs, 0– 30 m. Marine.

STATUS AT MADANG. First record from Madang by Kailola (1975: 97). Specimens collected at St. CTR 17, CTR 29. AMS, CAS, KFRS, MNHN, ROM, SMF, USNM and WAM material.
DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Sri Lanka east to Philippines and Vanuatu, north to Ryukyu and Ogasawara islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Solitary in crevices of coral or rocky reefs, 1– 30 m. Marine.

DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Eastern Indonesia east to Marshall Islands, north to Ryukyu and Ogasawara islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Solitary or in pairs in crevices of coral reefs, 0– 30 m. Marine.

STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on a specimen collected by W.-J. Chen, St. PR 202. NTUM and WAM material (NTUM 10169; WAM P.29624-046).
DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Indonesia east to Solomon Islands, north to southern Japan. Secretive in crevices of coral reefs, 1– 20 m. Marine.

DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Eastern Indonesia east to Caroline and Solomon Islands, north to Sabah ( Malaysia), south to northwestern Australia. Secretive in coral reef crevices, 6– 20 m. Marine.
