DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Philippines south to New Guinea. Benthopelagic, on the continental slope, 200– 300 m. Marine.
Sphenanthias grammodon (Fowler, 1934) — Grammodon bandfish
STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang and New Guinea, based on a specimen collected by W.-J. Chen, St. CP-3961. This species is placed in the genus Sphenanthias according to Liao et al. (2009: 521). DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Philippines north to southern Japan, south to New Guinea. Benthopelagic, on the lower continental shelf, 150– 200 m. Marine.
