STATUS AT MADANG. First record from Madang by Fricke (1994: 160–163) and Fricke (1997: 133–141); a specimen collected by W.-J. Chen, St. PB 34. NTUM, USNM and WAM material.
DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Christmas Island (eastern Indian Ocean) and Indonesia east to Pohnpei ( Micronesia) and American Samoa, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Cryptic, in lagoon and seaward coral reefs, 1– 40 m. Marine.
Enneapterygius fasciatus (Weber, 1909) —Banded triplefin
STATUS AT MADANG. First record from Madang by Fricke (1997: 193-199). Specimens observed at St. CTR 11, CTR 22, CTR 23. BPBM material.
DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. East Africa, Comores and Seychelles east to Philippines and New Guinea, north to Taiwan, south to Solomon Islands. Cryptic, in seaward coral reefs, 1– 25 m. Marine.
Enneapterygius flavoccipitis Shen in Shen & Wu, 1994 —Northern bicolour triplefin
STATUS AT MADANG. First record from Madang by Fricke (1997: 199–209); previously reported as Enneapterygius bichrous by Fricke (1994: 201). CAS, USNM and WAM material.
DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Indonesia east to Philippines and Solomon Islands, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to New Caledonia and Loyalty Islands. Cryptic, in seaward coral reefs, 0– 22 m. Marine.
Enneapterygius hemimelas (Kner & Steindachner, 1867) —Half-black triplefin STATUS AT MADANG. First record from Madang by Fricke (1994: 215–229). Specimens observed at St. CTR 23. WAM material.
DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Eastern Indonesia east to Philippines and American Samoa, north to southern Taiwan, south to New Caledonia. Cryptic, in coral reefs, 0– 30 m. Marine.

DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Northern Australia and New Guinea. Cryptic, in exposed rocky and coral reefs, 0– 12 m. Marine.
Enneapterygius philippinus (Peters, 1868) —Minute triplefin
STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on specimens observed at St. CTR 14, CTR 22, CTR 25. AMS material (AMS I.16671-065).
DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. East Africa, Comores and Mascarenes east to Marshall Islands and American Samoa, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Found on reef flats and on coralline rock including tidal pools, 0– 8 m. Marine.
Enneapterygius tutuilae Jordan & Seale, 1906 —High hat triplefin
STATUS AT MADANG. First record from Madang by Fricke (1994: 285–297) and Fricke (1997: 337–351). BPBM, USNM and WAM material. Deeper water specimens apparently belong to an undescribed, cryptic species. DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Red Sea, East Africa, Madagascar and western Mascarenes east to Caroline and Society islands, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Cryptic, on coralline rock and in coral reefs, 0– 32 m. Marine.
Helcogramma sp. (to be described by J. T. Williams)—Safra triplefin
STATUS AT MADANG. Reported from Madang as Helcogramma sp. by Fricke (1994: 403–409), as Helcogramma sp. 7 (“Safra” triplefin) by Fricke (1997: 403–408). USNM and WAM material. DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Eastern Indonesia east to Philippines and Tonga, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to New Caledonia. Cryptic, in exposed coral reefs, 1– 15 m. Marine.
Helcogramma albimacula Williams & Howe, 2003 — Albimacula triplefin
STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang and New Guinea, based on a specimen collected by W.-J. Chen, St. PB 34. NTUM material (NTUM 10144).
DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Eastern Indonesia east to Philippines, south to Papua New Guinea. Cryptic, in exposed coral reefs, including tidal pools, 0– 5 m. Marine.

STATUS AT MADANG. First record from Madang by Fricke (1994: 421–425) and Fricke (1997: 437–442). WAM material.
DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Eastern Indonesia to New Guinea, northern Australia and New Caledonia. Cryptic, on coralline rock, 1– 8 m. Marine.

STATUS AT MADANG. New record from Madang, based on a specimen photographed by A. Berberian. DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Papua New Guinea east to Rotuma, south to Vanuatu. Cryptic, on coralline rock, 1– 14 m. Marine.

STATUS AT MADANG. First record from in orginal description Madang by Hansen (1986); record confirmed by Fricke (1994: 436) and Fricke (1997: 475–480). Specimens observed at St. CTR 11. WAM material. DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. Eastern Andaman Sea and Indonesia east to Philippines and Solomon Islands, north to Malaysia, south to Queensland ( Australia) and Vanuatu.
