Muscina longicornis Stein, 1909: 221 View in CoL (junior secondary homonym, preocc. in Passeromyia View in CoL by Cyrtonevra longicornis Macquart, 1851 View in CoL ). Lectotype female, Batavia [= Jakarta], Java, in ZMAN, des. Pont (1970b).

Diagnosis. Eyes with very short sparse hairs; palpus black; fronto-orbital plate with numerous dense fine hairs and setulae from vertex to lunule; scape and pedicel reddish, postpedicel dark brown, reddish at base; gena broad; postpedicel long, about 5 times as long as pedicel; meron with long hairs; 2 intraalar setae; legs dark brown; postalar declivity bare; wing membrane uniformly covered with microtrichia; halter yellow; postalar wall bare; hind tibia without a posterodorsal seta; male with sternite 2 covered with very dense short fine setae.

Material examined. MNHN: Vanuatu: Tanna: 2 ♂, E. Aubert de la Rüe .

Comments. Redescribed by Pont (1974), who recorded it for the first time from Vanuatu (as New Hebrides), based on the two males from Tanna in MNHN .

Distribution. Australia (excluding Tas), Indonesia (West Papua, Maluku), Vanuatu; Oriental Region.
