Pygophora commoni Paramonov, 1961: 507 View in CoL . Holotype male, Mt Spec , Queensland, Australia, in ANIC.
Diagnosis. Body colour wholly yellow; frontal vitta yellow; fronto-orbital plate silvery pollinose; arista plumose to apex; ocellar setae absent; abdomen slightly laterally compressed; abdominal tergites 3–5 each with lateral brown marks, tergite 4 with a row of marginal setae and one lateral pair, tergite 5 with a row of marginal setae, and a second row on the lower side.

Comments. The species is recorded for the first time from Vanuatu. Previously it was thought to be endemic to Queensland, Australia. Paramonov (1961) wrote in the key to identification that the female of the species was unknown, but on pages 507 and 508 he described both male and female.
Distribution. Austalia (Qld), Vanuatu.
