Genus Parvisquama Malloch View in CoL
Lispocephala View in CoL subgenus Parvisquama Malloch, 1935a: 662 View in CoL . Type-species: Lispocephala (Parvisquama) pahangensis View in CoL
Malloch, 1935, orig. des.
.
Diagnosis. Small species, about 3.5 mm long; ocellar triangle long and narrow, reaching lunule; lower calypter reduced, linear; basal scutellar seta half as long as apical seta; fore tibia without submedian setae; mid tibia with only one posterodorsal seta; hind tibia with two pairs of anterodorsal and posterodorsal setae, and one anteroventral.
Comments. Eight species have been recorded in the Australasia and Oceania Regions; only two are found on Vanuatu, one of which is described here as new. Most species of Parvisquama are distinguished by the structure of the male sternite 5 and terminalia, with few features of external morphology or colour ( Snyder 1965). The two species recorded here can be separated only in the male sex and most reliably only by the shape and armature of sternite 5.
