Limnophora longiantennata Couri, Pont & Daugeron, 2010 View in CoL . Holotype female, in mountains up Boulari R., New Caledonia, in BPBM (mistankenly referred as in MNHN in Couri et al. 2010)
Diagnosis. Very small species, less than 3.5 mm. Frons very wide, eyes separated by a little more than one-third of head width; ocellar triangle large and reaching lunule; antenna inserted just below level of upper eye-margin; postpedicel very long, almost reaching oral margin. Scutum without a white band or dusted area in front of transverse suture and with longitudinal vittae.
Description. Male: Differs from female (recently described in Couri et al. 2010) as follows:
General colour. Frontal triangle with silver pollinosity stronger than in female. Abdomen with triangular brown marks larger than in female.
Head. As in female.
Thorax. (hind legs missing in female) Hind femur with 3 setae on apical fourth of anteroventral and anterodorsal surfaces. Hind tibia with one median anteroventral and one median anterodorsal, both fine and similar in length; dorsal surface with a long apical seta.
Abdomen. Sternite 5 as in Fig. 7 View FIGURES 1–10. 1–6 .
Terminalia. Sternite 6 as in Fig. 8 View FIGURES 1–10. 1–6 , arms forming a complete ring. Cercal plate and surstylus as in Figs 9 and 10 View FIGURES 1–10. 1–6 . Aedeagus as in Fig. 10 View FIGURES 1–10. 1–6 ; hypandrium short-tubular, praegonite reduced.
Material examined. BPBM: Vanuatu: Erromango: Dillon Bay , 0–100 m, i.1984, 1 ♀ ( BMNH), N.L.H.Krauss . Malekula: Lakatotro , 0–200 m, ii.1973, 1 ♂ ( MNRJ), N.L.H. Krauss .
Comments. The species was recently described from New Caledonia ( Couri et al. 2010) based on one female specimen. Two females and one male, the latter described for the first time, were found among our Vanuatu material. The species now is known to occur in New Caledonia and Vanuatu.
