Helina Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830: 493 View in CoL . Type-species: Helina euphemioidea Robineau-Desvoidy View in CoL [= Anthomyia pertusa Meigen, 1826 ], des. Coquillett (1901: 137).
Diagnosis. Male head holoptic or dichoptic; eye with few hairs; arista plumose; scutum with 4 dark vittae; dorsocentrals 2+3–4; fore tibia without submedian seta; veins R 4+5 and M conspicuously divergent at apex; prosternum and anepimeron bare; wing veins bare; prealar present; hind tibia with the calcar absent. Comments. The genus is widespread in Australia and New Guinea, and is here recorded for the first time from Vanuatu, based on the presence of one species that has only recently been described from New Caledonia ( Couri et al. 2010).
