Although the authors have not carried out systematic searches, currently available data suggest that O. alba subsp. alba is rare—or even very rare—in the Higher Great Caucasus. (The authors only know sites from the lower parts of northwestern Caucasus and from the Caucasus foothills.) Thus, the example localities of O. alba subsp. alba , documented on <http://www.plantarium.ru> (acc. 03.10.2014) are restricted to the foothills of the Caucasus and its surroundings:

The occurrence of O. alba subsp. alba in the NW-Caucasus in Rätzel & Uhlich (2004: 198) should be deleted, because the plants in question belong to a different taxon.
