Remarks. Otostigmus sulcatus is here recorded from Brazil for the first time under this name. It was known only from the type locality ( Kraepelin, 1903; Attems, 1930; Bücherl, 1974), but now it is recorded from the states of Santa Catarina and Paraná ( Figure 39 View FIGURE 39 ), the latter record corresponding to the type locality of O. latipes . I examined the types of both Otostigmus latipes and O. sulcatus , and observed that some features, such as tooth plates, tarsal spurs on legs, the short paramedian sutures at the anterior part of the sternites, and mainly the shape of the ultimate pair of legs agreed in all aspects between them. Both species present tooth plates with 4+4 teeth, two tarsal spurs on legs 1 to 17 (or 18), short paramedian sutures from sternites 3 to 19 and tibia and tarsi of ultimate pair of legs laterally flattened. Besides, the tarsus 2 of the ultimate legs of O. sulcatus and O. latipes looks like an elliptic or ovate leaf, therefore I regard O. latipes a junior synonym of O. sulcatus . Previous to the new record of O. sulcatus from Florianópolis, state of Santa Catarina, in Brazil, Bücherl (1954; 1974) had already recorded this species from this country, but as O. latipes . These old records are from Cavíuna, state of Paraná, Blumenau, state of Santa Catarina and Rio das Mortes, state of Mato Grosso.
