Main distinguishing characteristics. Dorsal shield varying from smooth to reticulate. Idiosomal setal pattern 10A:9B/JV-3:ZV; seta s4 almost always (except in I. raucuara and I. setillus ) and Z4 and Z5 often much longer than other dorsal shield setae. Ventrianal shield subpentagonal (about vase-shaped in I. noronhensis Da-Costa et al. ), with pre-anal setae inserted on anterior third of the pre-anal region of the shield and with 3–4 pairs of pre-anal setae. With 1–2 pairs of metapodal plates. Spermathecal calyx saccular, cone- or trumpet-shaped. Fixed cheliceral digit with 8–13 and movable digit with 1–7 teeth. Macrosetae present on legs I–IV, varying from sharp-tipped to knobbed.

Remarks. At least 14 of the 15 species presently included in this genus have been reported from Brazil, suggesting this country to contain or be part of the center of diversity of Iphiseiodes . By far, the most frequent species of this genus in Brazil has been I. zuluagai . This is one of the two Amblyseiinae species most frequently reported from that country. Male ventrianal shield with three pairs of setae arranged in a triangular pattern; spermadactyl L-shaped. Worldwide, species of this genus have been reported only from plants.
