Type species. Amblyseiella setosa Muma, 1955: 266 View in CoL .
Main distinguishing characteristics. Dorsal shield mostly smooth, with slight marginal constriction immediately anteriad Z5. Dorsal idiosomal setal pattern 10A:8B (without S5) and ventral idiosomal setal pattern JV-3:ZV; with several setae near shield margin as well as Z4 and R1 much longer than other setae; ratio s4 / S2 <2.7. Sternal shield slightly wider than long; posterior margin about straight to slightly convex. Ventrianal shield ovoid, with only one pair of pre-anal setae (Jv2). Spermathecal calyx saccular. Fixed and movable cheliceral digits with 2–3 teeth and one tooth, respectively. Macrosetae of legs II–IV, sharp-tipped. Male ventrianal shield with three pairs of pre-anal setae arranged in a triangular pattern; spermadactyl type heel-and-toe .
Remarks. One of the two species presently included in this genus has been reported from Brazil. Worldwide, species of this genus have been reported from plants.
