Dorsal shield of female mostly smooth, with scant anterolateral striae, 356 (305–390) long and 219 (205–227) wide. Setal lengths: j1 31 (27–35), j3 45 (42–50), j4 6 (6–7), j5 3 (3–5), j6 5 (4–7), J2 6 (5–6), J5 7 (6–7), z2 10 (9–12), z4 8 (7–10), z5 4 (3–4), Z1 7 (6–7), Z4 115 (97–122), Z5 190 (170–205), s4 89 (80–92), S2 9 (7–10), S4 8 (6–10), S5 8 (6–10), r3 18 (16–21) and R1 9 (8–10). Peritreme extending to level of j1. Distances between st1–st3 62 (55–70), st2–st2 76 (55–80), st5–st5 70 (68–77). Ventrianal shield 121 (110–135) long, 76 (67–80) wide at level of Zv2 and 72 (70–76) at anus level. Spermathecal calyx cup-shaped, 5 (4–7) long; atrium nodular. Fixed cheliceral digit 35 (33–37) long, with 13 teeth; movable digit 40 (39–42) long, with three teeth. Macrosetae of legs I–IV, sharp-tipped; SgeI 36 (32–40), SgeII 35 (32–37), SgeIII 40 (32–47), SgeIV 88 (80–105), StiIII 31 (27–32), StiIV 58 (48–62) and StIV 71 (60–72) .

Distribution elsewhere. Argentina, Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Venezuela.

Remarks. The setal measurements are similar to those provided in the original description, except for Z5, approximately 1.2 times longer in Brazilian specimens. See remarks under Amblyseius leai Tixier & Kreiter concerning the possible synonymy between those species. In addition, little morphological differences may be recognized among A. chiapensis , A. impressus and A. pravus and, therefore, the possibility of these species be synonyms must be further examined in the future.
