Distribution in Brazil. Minas Gerais ( Abreu et al., 2014), Pernambuco ( Moraes & McMurtry, 1983) and São Paulo ( Mineiro et al., 2006a).

Distribution elsewhere. Hawaii, Tunisia and USA.

Remarks. Specimens reported by Cruz et al. (2012) as Neoseiulus aff. mumai were reidentified as N. benjamini ( Cruz et al. 2014) . The measurements of the specimens examined are similar to those of the redescription by Schicha (1981b). Part of the specimens of N. mumai so far examined, including type specimens, does not have Zv1 ( Chant & McMurtry, 2003a); only two other phytoseiid species are known to lack this seta, Afroseiulus robertsi (Baker) and Amazoniaseius imparisetosus Demite, Cruz & McMurtry ( Amblyseiinae and Typhlodrominae , respectively).
