Holotype. Male. PAPUA NEW GUINEA: Buna Bay ( BPBM).
Diagnosis. Known only from a few records along the east coast of New Guinea in the Buna Bay area; dorsally yellowish to pale brown with black elytral apices. Most similar to Aquil. messoria comb. nov. from which it is distinguished by the black elytral apices.
Remarks. Ballantyne & Lambkin (2009) in erecting Gilvainsula from two similarly coloured species ( messoria and similismessoria ) thought they might represent two extremes of the one population.
