Pteroptyx curticollis Pic 1923 View in CoL
Pteroptyx curticolle Pic 1923: 59 . Pteroptyx curticollis Pic. McDermott 1966: 117 View in CoL . Ballantyne & McLean 1970: 265. Type. Unknown sex, fragmentary appearing to consist of prothorax, margins of elytra and possibly ventral piece of tho- rax. TONKIN Lac-Thô. Labelled 1. Red type printed; 2. Handwritten ‘Lac Tho Larkin’; 3. Pteroptyx curticolle n. sp. ’ (MNHN).
Remarks. Ballantyne and McLean (1970) indicated at the time of writing the fragmentary nature of the type. The specimen photographed by Yiu (pers. comm.) appears to have been reassembled as the fragments of the elytra have their ventral surface uppermost while the pronotum is dorsal side uppermost. Pic distinguished Pt. curticollis from Pt. atripennis by the form of the prothorax. There are no distinguishing features in his description which would enable any assumption of sex of this specimen, but it can possibly be assumed to be the same colour as Pt. curticollis (orange pronotum and dark brown elytra).
