Remarks. Recorded from Manila, the species was described as dorsally pale, with the elytral apex black, and the basal abdominal segments brown. Nothing sufficiently distinctive about this colour pattern, nor the locality data, would permit an attempt to associate males. McDermott (1966; 99) incorrectly attributed a reference to this species to Olliff (1890). Olliff referred to Luciola dejeani Gemm. which he equated to L. apicalis Boisduval , not L. apicalis (Eschsch.) .
