Pygoluciola tamarat Jusoh View in CoL sp. nov.
Figs 449−455 View FIGURES 449−455
Type. Holotype male THAILAND as Peninsular Siam , Nakon Sri Tamarat Khao Luang at light, 2000 ft. March 19 1922 H.M. Pendlebury ( MZUM).
Paratype. (1). same data as holotype, male ( MZUM) .
Diagnosis. One of two species of Pygoluciola having a broad apically truncate MPP which curves slightly upwards to engage against the under surface of T8 the apex of which is triangular, and a light brown or yellowish ventral abdomen with narrow black posterior margin of V5; dorsally dingy brown with diffuse darker pronotal markings; distinguished from P. dunguna sp. nov. by the outline of the posterior margin of the V7 LO and the colour of the lateral margins and the MPP ( P. dunguna sp. nov. has LO with rounded posterior margin and the clearer lateral margins of V7, and the MPP, are pale yellowish; P. tamarat sp. nov. has a median posterior emargination of the LO and the lateral margins of V7, and the MPP, are dark brown.
Description of male. 10.0 mm long. Colour ( Figs 449, 450 View FIGURES 449−455 ): dorsal surface dingy brown with pronotum slightly paler than elytra and bearing median dark markings; head, antennae and palpi black; venter of thorax dingy brown, of metathorax appearing darker brown (semitransparent cuticle in this area permits underlying muscles to show and this may not be the actual colour of this segment; legs 1, 2 brown with black tibiae and tarsi; legs 3 brown with tarsi dark brown; basal abdominal ventrites semitransparent, pale brownish with V5 having a narrow black posterior margin ( Fig. 450 View FIGURES 449−455 ); LO in V6, 7 creamy; sides of V7 where LO is retracted ( Figs 450, 451 View FIGURES 449−455 ), and MPP dark brown; abdominal tergites very dark brown, T7, 8 almost black ( Fig. 455 View FIGURES 449−455 ). Pronotum: width subequal to humeral width; lateral margins strongly divergent in anterior 2/3 and posterolateral corners rounded and not projecting further than median posterior margin. Elytron: slightly convex sided; interstitial lines not well defined. Head: GHW 4.5 x SIW: antennal sockets close but not contiguous. Mouthparts: apical labial palpomere laterally flattened of the form of a broad triangle with inner edge irregularly dentate (3–4 teeth). Antennae: incomplete; all segments elongate slender; FS 1, 2 wider than remainder. Abdomen ( Figs 450, 451, 455 View FIGURES 449−455 ): posterior margin of V7 with elongate apically truncate MPP which curves gently upwards where it engages in the pinned specimen against the underside of T8; dorsally reflexed margins of V7 ( Fig. 451 View FIGURES 449−455 ) well defined and anterior margin beside MPP produced into wide rounded pieces; reflexed margin in two parts on dorsal surface of MPP where the narrow margin between left and right side is visible from beneath as a line in the middle of the MPP. T8 ( Fig. 455 View FIGURES 449−455 ): with narrow triangular posterior margin, lateral wing like projections which are subparallel sided, and elongate anterolateral prolongations that diverge; basal position of prolongations with wider partly membranous portion. Aedeagal sheath ( Fig. 454 View FIGURES 449−455 ): all of sheath sternite expanding gradually in basal 3/5 where it expands at the sides with posterior margin slightly sinuate and bearing elongate hairy lobes (not clearly visible in Fig. 454 View FIGURES 449−455 ); anterior margin of tergite shallowly emarginated; no obvious extra tergal piece detected. Aedeagus ( Figs 452, 453 View FIGURES 449−455 ): 2.7 x as long as wide and very slightly wider across basal portion of LL; BP well defined and in two well cuticularised narrow parts; membranous apical section of LL having short apically acute hair bearing lobe at the outer margin just before origin of the more membranous portion; with dense line of long hairs originating at this lobe and continuing inside their lateral margins; membranous portion of LL as wide at base as at apex; ML tapering to a rounded narrow apex, shorter than LL and extending a little beyond the posterior margin of the dark basal portion of the LL; darker basal portion of LL widely separated for slightly more than half their length in middorsal line; anterior margin of basal portion of LL asymmetrical, being produced on its left side and margin rounded.
