Euxoa (Euxoa) tritici (Linnaeus, 1761) View in CoL

Bionomics. FP: VII–VIII. Meso-xerophilous species. Steppes, shrub thickets, open woodlands, meadows.

Known localities. P: Pavlodarskoye; S: Sharbakty; AK: Tuz, Maraldinskaya Dacha; B: Shonai, Zhana Zhosaly; E: Zhartas, Olenty.

Note. Euxoa tritici , E. nigrofusca (Esper, [1788]) and E. eruta (Hübner, [1817]) were previously considered as three distinct species ( Fibiger 1997) but the further morphological and molecular studies did not support this opinion ( Hausmann et al. 2011; Mutanen 2005; Behounek 2011) suggesting that nigrofusca and eruta are most probably only ecological forms of E. tritici . Huemer (2013) considered nigrofusca and eruta as synonyms of E. tritici and this concept is also followed in the present paper.

Literature: Pospelov (1962); Titov et al. (2017b, as E. nigrofusca and E. eruta ).
