Type species: Pediopsis garuda Distant, 1916 by original designation.
Diagnosis. Body stout. Pronotum distinctly declivous, pronotal striations distinctly oblique. Forewing with 2 (subgenus Pedionis ) or 3 (subgenus Thyia ) anteapical cells, veins usually spotted with white, appendix narrow. Male pygofer always tapering to a point caudally, usually with caudal margin serrate or an acute tip.
Distribution. Australian, Oriental and Palaearctic regions.
