Specimens examined: Site 94­16, 1 female; Site 94­31, 2 females.

Laelaspis secedens was described from Somalia by Berlese (1918) and later recorded from Angola by Van Aswegen & Loots (1970). It is now recorded from South Africa for the first time. Its biology has not been studied, but it is presumed to be predatory by analogy with other Laelapidae View in CoL .
