Taxonomy. First record from Lebanon as Heteropriacanthus cruentatus (Lacepède 1801) View in CoL by Badreddine & Bitar (2019). Material in collection: AUBM.

Distribution. Circumglobal in temperate and tropical seas, including Hawaiian Islands. On ref. 35348: western and south-central Atlantic. Western Atlantic to Indo Pacific.

Conservation. IUCN: Global ( LC: 29 January 2013). Capture and threats: Unknown. Occurrence: Rare. Nonindigenous species, no conservation action needed .
