Distribution. Red Sea, western Indian Ocean: East Africa to Comores and Madagascar, Réunion and Mauritius (western Mascarenes); Mediterranean Sea (Red Sea immigrant).

Conservation. IUCN: Global ( LC: 19 July 2017). Capture and threats: Unknown. Occurrence: Very common. Non-indigenous species, no conservation action needed .
