Taxonomy. First record from Lebanon as Crenidens crenidens View in CoL by Bariche et al. (2015: 2366). Material in collection: AUBM (OS3861).

Distribution. Red Sea, western Indian Ocean: East Africa, South Africa and Gulf of Aden east to Socotra and Madagascar; Mediterranean Sea (Red Sea immigrant).

Conservation. IUCN: Global ( LC: 1 December 2009). Capture and threats: Unknown. Occurrence: Very rare. Non-indigenous species, no conservation action needed .
