Distribution. Red Sea, western Indian Ocean: East Africa, South Africa and Madagascar east to western India; Mediterranean Sea (Red Sea immigrant, if valid).

Conservation. IUCN: Global (NE). Capture and threats: Unknown. Occurrence: Very common. Non-indigenous species, no conservation action needed.
