(2007: 112) and Aguillar et al. (2018: 82). Recent unpublished records from Tyre, Sarafand, Saida, Beirut, Batroun, Tripoli (1998–2019). Material in collection: ANSP, AUBM, BMNH and USNM.
Distribution. Circumglobal in tropical and warm temperate seas (including Mediterranean Sea, Sea of Marmara, Red Sea), except not in eastern Pacific.
Conservation. IUCN: Global ( LC: 7 November 2013); Med. ( LC: 16 November 2007). Capture and threats: FIT, FIB, NIS, unknown. Occurrence: Common. Low priority for conservation action .
