Taxonomy. First record from Lebanon as Tripterygion xanthosoma View in CoL by Harmelin-Vivien et al. (2005: 629). Material in collection: AUBM.

Distribution. Mediterranean Sea, Sea of Marmara, Eastern Atlantic: English Channel south to Senegal, including Azores, Madeira and Canary Islands

Conservation. IUCN: Global ( LC: 16 November 2007); Med. ( LC: 16 November 2007). Capture and threats: HAB, unknown. Occurrence: Common. Medium priority for conservation action .
